But the main audience that kept the series alive was composed mostly of fujoshis, rather than people that actually gave a shit about the effort Capcom put in to make the game so good mechanically compared to other musou. One last point is that I think the game doesn't cover the most recent and apparently massive story arc of the manga.

I would say get Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate. There aren't as many on-screen mobs, but you still get the badass action that teeter on to narm. You get to see the dumb-ass character designs at a satisfying rate. You get to choose over 140 characters, including characters such as Sophitia from Soul Calibur, and Kasumi from Dead or Alive. But as far as fully experiencing the story of One Piece, it's not great for that, as mentioned above, but there's an incredible amount of story that they're going through so I can't really fault them too much.
